Job Description

Working as Corporate Counsel, you will provide this transfer of disruptive legal challenges, and provide innovative and proactive legal guidance. Working alongside a top-notch in house legal team, you’ll combine to tackle difficult challenges placing products and programs that define information technology and information law on the cutting edge of the 21st Century.

You will help with the growing Google Cloud business, providing the required commercial and regulatory guidance for India and West Asia. You’ll review and negotiate agreements, provide legal counsel, and develop creative legal solutions that let Google grow the business while still staying true to ever changing needs. What you do will affect the company’s path for growth and strategic direction.

The Law and Technology nexus is right at the heart of Google’s Legal practice, where we sharpen the sword to deal with the most pressing legal questions of the information age. So if you are a patent attorney, or an IP expert, you can do something new, you can do something that will set a precedent in a new area of law, or you can navigate issues that haven’t been navigated before. Google legal is just that, they use creative, practical legal solutions to help shape product that have a global impact on users and a global impact on innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

Must be admitted to the bar and in good standing, or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., holding registered in-house status) in the state where the position is based.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience as a lawyer working on commercial transactions.

  • Knowledge of privacy, consumer protection, antitrust, contract, content moderation/safety, or IP law issues in a technology context.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements for all areas of Google Cloud in India and West Asia. Manage and develop business templates while collaborating with stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and provide training.

  • Working with Google’s government affairs team to provide practical, solution oriented advice on product, marketing and business initiatives to help support product launch and innovation, perform legal reviews of Google’s product, marketing and business initiatives.

  • Make certain that Google operates in compliance with applicable laws across all the areas that we operate in the region. Serve as a liaison to both regulators and authorities, and handle regulatory inquiries around Google’s products and operations in the region, and over seeing litigation.

  • Provide a structured, efficient way to address a variety of legal requests from Business, Engineering, Product Management, Marketing and other functional teams.
