The National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are the central government-owned-public technical institutes under the ownership of Ministry of Education, Government of India. They are governed by the National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research Act, 2007, which declared them as institutions of national importance and lays down their powers, duties, and framework for governance. The act lists thirty-one NITs. Each NIT is autonomous, linked to the others through a common council known as the Council of NITSER, which oversees their administration and all NITs are funded by the Government of India.
NIT Calicut proposes to select suitable personnel to engage them on a contract basis for the post of Legal Officer purely on a temporary basis for a period of one year (with the option of extension – based on performance) based on the immediate requirement of personnel for the smooth functioning of the Institute.
He/She will act as a liaison with the institute counsels before various legal forums, vetting the MoU/contracts/documents on legal aspects and other duties assigned by the Institute.
First-class Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized University/Institute
At least five years of experience as an advocate or law officer in the Legal Department of Central or State Govt. or any renowned organization/established law firm

OBC-NCL candidates should bring a non-creamy layer certificate issued by an officer, not below the rank of Tahsildar. The certificate should be recent.
EWS candidates should produce an income and asset certificate issued by the competent authority and the certificate should be recent.
Interested candidates with the requisite qualification and experience shall carry along with all relevant certificates in original and their self-attested copies (one each) while coming for the selection process.
Candidates without original certificates as against their claims will not be permitted to take part in the selection process or be considered for appointment.
Only certificates from Government or Government recognized institutions will be accepted.
Any changes of dates etc. will be published on the website only and not in any other mode.
