The Jute Commissioner looks after the orderly development and promotion of the jute industry in India. He has been discharging both regulatory and developmental functions. This does not only include jute mills but covers right from raw jute marketing up to the finishing stage of jute goods production, including development of machineries and accessories used in jute manufacturing units. The Jute Commissioner exercises regulatory powers under Jute & Jute Textiles Control Order, 2016.
The Office of the Jute Commissioner, Kolkata requires the services of 1 (one) Law Officer on a contract basis for one year initially and extendable upto a maximum 3rd year on a yearly basis.
To regularly attend all ongoing court cases all over the country as and when required
To liaise with senior counsels for their appointments in court cases
To arrange and attend conferences with Govt. Counsel and departmental officers
To examine and study Writ Petitions and other legal documents and drafting of Petition, application, written statements or any other legal document as and when required
To brief senior Govt. Counsels
To keep track of court cases related to the office of the Jute Commissioner
To follow up on legal matters with the concerned
Preparation of report & returns replies to the legal matter
Any other related work assigned by higher authorities
Periodical updating of Court cases in the LIMBS portal
A degree in Law from a recognized University in India.
Must have been enrolled in Bar Council with validity as on date of application.
Desirable Experience: At least 10 years of experience in the legal profession. Persons with work experience in the government sector (especially Jute-related cases) will be preferred.
Rs. 55,000/- Consolidated.
In case of extension, consolidated pay will be increased by 3% per annum over existing.
