Cred is an Indian fintech company, based in Bangalore, founded in 2018 by Kunal Shah. Cred app's main feature is reward-based credit card payments. Later, Cred let users to make house rent payments and introduced short-term credit lines.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. advise leadership and business teams on an active legal & regulatory strategy for upcoming products.

  2. review current and upcoming financial regulations across regulators, and advise teams on the applicability and impact of regulatory changes.

  3. part of the strategy team working on M&A to expand the scope and reach of CRED's services for its members.

  4. support CRED’s product teams by advising on legal and risk issues related to CRED financial and non-financial offerings but not limited to product flows & product structures.

  5. advise on corrective and preventative measures, including risk-based business initiatives and mitigation strategies.

  6. train team members on legal issues, best practices and policies.

  7. handle our intellectual property rights and domestic and foreign trademark applications.

  8. assist with prosecution and litigation.

  9. review and negotiate commercial agreements with various business partners (including D2C brands, banks, marketing agencies, tech platforms and financial institutions) on a wide range of matters from marketing, promotions, e-commerce contracts, payment support services contracts, and similar standard commercial contracts to complex, high-dollar value transactions and cutting-edge business initiatives.

  10. legal review of internal procedures and compliance issues.

  11. liaison with law firms and external counsels.

Eligibility

  1. 5-7 years of relevant experience of working at law firms or in-house at start-ups.

  2. strong skills in legal drafting, research, negotiation and with commercial and contentious work.

  3. experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.

  4. high competence to review and identify legal issues in complex commercial documentation.

  5. experience of having undertaken legal due diligence review of start-ups generally and fintech companies in particular.

  6. competence in broad range of corporate and business laws, including various FEMA regulations and RBI/SEBI regulations along with the ability to address related research questions with ease.

  7. ability to analyze business processes, spot issues and propose/implement solutions.

  8. ability to function autonomously yet communicate laterally and upward with ease.

  9. interest in start-up and fintech ecosystems along with the curiosity to track and keep abreast of the changing regulatory landscape

  10. high motivation, are creative and laser-focused on the details.

  11. the ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment and to re-prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs.
