HC dismisses with ₹25K cost PIL against Army official

  • The Delhi HC on Monday dismissed with costs of ₹25,000 a PIL seeking to cancel employment of an person in the Army on the ground of giving false information at the time of appointment
  • A bench said it was not at all a PIL and instead a blackmailing kind of litigation
  • The court dismissed the petition on various grounds, including the petitioner has not made as a party, the person whose employment was sought to be cancelled by him, and there was an unexplained delay in filing of the petition
  • The petitioner's counsel alleged that the details supplied by the concerned person, who was appointed as a junior commissioned officer in 2015, were incorrect so his employment be cancelled

4 judges take oath in Delhi HC taking strength to 34

  • Four new Delhi HC judges took the oath of office on Monday, taking their total strength to 34
  • Chief Justice D N Patel administered the oath of office to Justices Neena Bansal Krishna, Dinesh Kumar Sharma, Anoop Kumar Mendiratta and Sudhir Kumar Jain, who were appointed as judges of the Delhi HC on Feb 25
  • The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on Feb 1, 2022, had approved the proposal for the elevation of six judicial officers as judges in the Delhi HC
  • Out of the six, the Centre has approved the names of four judges to be elevated as HC judges
