Kerala HC notice to govt, Lulu mall on illegal parking fee

  • The Kerala High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the state govt, a muncipality and the Lulu International shopping mall at Ernakulam, on a plea that the mall was illegally collecting the parking fee from customers
  • The petitioner, a film director, moved the high court after Rs 20 as parking fee was collected from him when he had visited the mall on Dec 2
  • He has alleged that the mall staff closed the exit gates and threatened him when he initially refused to pay the amount
  • During the hearing on Tuesday, it was argued that the mall does not have the licence to collect parking fees from customers

HC directives on removal of encroachments on Adheenam land

  • The Madras High Court has directed the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) dept to take appropriate steps to remove the encroachments on the lands belonging to Thiruvavaduthurai Adheenam in Tenkasi
  • Justice R Mahadevan gave the direction last week, while disposing of a petition from Kasidarmam Panchayat Union, by its president in Kadayanallur in Tenkasi and three others
  • Disposing of the petition, the judge directed the Kadayanallur Panchayat Union Commissioner to make a request with regard to removal of encroachments to the Commissioner of HR&CE dept in Chennai
