About ICA

The ICA was established in 1965 as a specialized arbitral body at the national level under the initiatives of the Govt. of India and apex business organizations like FICCI etc. Based in New Delhi, the main objective of ICA is to promote amicable, quick and inexpensive settlement of commercial disputes by means of arbitration, conciliation, regardless of location.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Carrying out research on arbitration including judgments, committee reports, international best practices, amendments in Acts and ICA Rules.

  • Assistance in ICA Arbitration Quarterly Journal including writing case briefs on Indian and Foreign Arbitration laws, collating articles, proofreading etc.

  • Skilled in legal writing like Memos, Articles, driving other legal content in social media

  • Organizing Training Courses/conferences etc. in relation to Domestic, International, Maritime Arbitration, Dispute Board Services of ICA etc.

  • Generate Social Media Awareness of the ICA Conference, Workshops and others

  • Case Management particularly pre constitution work i.e. prior to the formation of Arbitral Tribunal including registration of case based on analysis of Arbitration Agreement, sending correspondence to the parties in relation to arbitration cost and expenses, preparation of agenda for appointment of arbitrators etc. in relation to ICA arbitration-related matters.

Eligibility for the Role of Legal Researcher

  • Legal training with knowledge of Arbitration, both Domestic and International;

  • Strong substantive understanding of the area of commercial contract law, i.e. key contract clauses/issues;

  • 2-3 years of relevant legal experience;

  • Level of familiarity with the commercial agreement, legal technology and its application in the contract lifecycle management field;

  • Strong Microsoft Office and other technical skills such as Excel, Word, PPT etc.;

  • Adapt to working virtually.
