
At the invitation of Ministry of Law-Singapore, FICL delegation comprising of Dr. Ashok Sharma, Dr. SB Mitra, Rohan Sharma and Manmeet Kaur attended the Singapore Mediation Week 2022.
Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minister for Law received the FICL delegation at The Treasury and discussed the various modalities whereby FICL and Singapore can engage usefully towards developing Singapore as the global mediation hub pursuant to United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation (“Singapore Convention”).
The Singapore Convention was adopted by the UN General Assembly in December 2018 and signed by the US, China, India and South Korea and 45 other countries. So far, 55 nations across the world have signed the Convention. Eight of those countries have formally ratified it, and the Convention entered into force on September 12, 2020.
FICL delegation also had useful meetings with Mr Edwin TONG, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law on various issues including how mediation has gained traction as the preffered mode of settlement since the start of the covid pandemic.
The Hon'ble Minister Mr Edwin TONG graciously hosted a luncheon for the visting delegation.
During the UNCITRAL Academy Conference FICL delegation also met UNCITRAL Secretary Anna Joubin- Bret and had detailed discussions and explained the recent policy advocacy programs undertaken by FICL.

SCCA Co-Presidents Renita Sophia Crasta, Daniel Choo along with Bryan Yeo-Executive Director hosted a lovely get-together paired with wine and cheese for visiting FICL delegation at their office located in the prestigious building- Maxwell Chambers.
